Synchrotron Light Applications for CharacterizingFunctional Materials
Abstract:Synchrotron light (SL) iselectromagnetic radiation which is emitted when electrons moving at close to the speed of light in vacuum are changed direction by a magnetic field. SL covers a wide spectra ranging from infrared to X-rays with high brightnessand has had an immense impact in fields includingphysics, chemistry, biology, earth science, medicine, and life science. In this talk, I will focus on the applications for characterizing functional materials, especially on the determination of electronic and atomic structures by using photoemission spectroscopy and X-ray absorption fine structure.
