Abstract
Mode-locking of diode quasi continuously pumped neodymium and ytterbium lasers using semiconductor saturable absorbers in transmission and reflection mode will be presented. Schemes with side pumping of Nd doped slabs in bounce geometry or end pumping of Yb:YAG crystals will be discussed. The application of the developed picosecond lasers for investigation of SRS in diamond, OPG at 6 um spectral region in CSP nonlinear crystal. The generation and amplification of ps pulses at 2 um wavelength will be also presented.
Prof. Václav Kubeček – received his M.Sc. Ph.D. and Doctor of Science (Dr.Sc.) degrees all from the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague. Since graduation till now he has been with the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, (FNSPE), The Czech Technical University. His present position is full professor of applied physics. His research interests include advanced methods of generation of picosecond pulses in solid state lasers - mode locking using passive negative feedback and nonlinear mirror with second harmonic generation, compression of nanosecond pulses via SBS and SRS, optical parametric oscillators and ring diode pumped mode locked lasers for sensors.
He was visiting scientist at P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute, Academy of Sciences of USSR in Moscow, Interkosmos Laser Radar Stations in Egypt and Vietnam, Department of Applied Physics, Hull University, U.K., Department of Electronics, University of Pavia, Italy, Institute of Molecular Sciences in Okazaki, Japan, CISE Research Institute in Milan, Italy, IRCOM CNRS and University of Limoges, France, Himeji Institute of Technology, Japan, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA.
Dr. Kubeček is member of SPIE, OSA, EPS, and Czech Photonics Society. He is author and co-author of more than 100 papers published in international journals and presented at international conferences.
