Biography of Prof. Francis J. E. Cambier
Dr F. Cambier is involved in Materials Science since 1971 and specialized in ceramics since 1979. He is interested in both traditional ceramics and in advanced materials (mostly for structural use). He is author and co-author of 7 patents, of more than 250 written publications, most of them published in international scientific journals (Journal of the European Ceramic Society, Journal of the American Ceramic Society, Journal of Materials Science Letters, Silicates Industriels, etc.) and of more than 280 oral or poster communications among which about 40 invited lectures. He was the supervisor of 17 M.Sc. theses and 8 Ph.D. theses. He was also a member of numerous Ph.D. and M.Sc. juries in Belgium (ULB, UCL, ULg, UMH, FPMs, KULeuven, LUC, etc.), France (Valenciennes, Lyon, St Etienne, Nice, Grenoble, Montpellier and Limoges), UK (Leeds), Denmark (Copenhagen), Italy (Torino), Ireland (Limerick, Dublin) and Finland (Tampere). He is today member of the “supervising committee” of 2 Ph.D. theses at UMONS-FPMs: T. Van Herck (modelling of SPS process) and D. Hautcoeur (Ceramic Freeze Templating) and co-supervisor of 1 other Ph.D. theses: D. Deschuyteneer (Laser cladding, with Prof M. Gonon UMons).
